SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The public is prohibited from fishing at Tasik Pandan Perdana in Ampang Jaya, to ensure that the raw water source is preserved and remains unpolluted.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councillor R. Moganraj said the decision to impose the ban was made during the local authority's full meeting in November.
“Previously, fishing was allowed at the lake, but the decision was made following a recommendation by the Menteri Besar (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari), who emphasised the need to safeguard water catchment areas from pollution.
“Thus, we have put up signs prohibiting fishing and hope the public will cooperate by adhering to the regulation,” he told SelangorKini yesterday.
Moganraj added that enforcement actions are also being carried out by MPAJ's Youth, Community, and Landscape Department, along with the council's enforcement officers at the lake.
“If any individuals defy the rule, we will confiscate their fishing equipment,” he said.
