KUALA KUBU BHARU, Dec 27 — The activities of the Malaysian Scout Jamboree serve as an excellent platform to test participants’ understanding and personal abilities in facing challenges, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said this is especially important as the world grapples with various challenges, from the Covid-19 pandemic to the rapid advancements in modern technology.
“Much of our lives now revolve around gadgets in our hands. However, these devices have somewhat made us complacent and careless.
“Scouting should be the best platform to test self-reliance and personal abilities. It is when we face challenges that resilience becomes essential in overcoming problems,” he said when officiating the closing ceremony of the 14th Malaysian Scout Jamboree at Kem Bina Semangat here last night.
Also present were National Scout chief commissioner Nasaruddin Shamsuddin and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council president Julaihah Jamaludin.
A jamboree is a large gathering where scouts from different regions come together to participate in activities, learn new skills, and foster friendship.
The programme, which began last Sunday and concludes today, was held concurrently with the 8th Peace Jamboree of the International Union of Muslim Scouts (IUSM), organised by the Malaysian Scouts Association.
The program saw participation from 3,600 individuals, both locally and internationally, including representatives from the Maldives, China, Pakistan, and Jordan.
