SHAH ALAM, Dec 26 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has established a partnership with two Chinese companies focusing on knowledge sharing in modern agriculture and global marketing.

This is following the signing of a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) between PKPS, through its subsidiary PKPS Ehsan Agrotech Sdn Bhd; China Guangxi Yufeng Food & Health Co Ltd (Yufeng), and China Guangxi Meili Digital Technology Co Ltd (Meili) today.

PKPS Ehsan Agrotech chief operating officer Chan Kok Choy said the collaboration encompasses sharing expertise in agricultural technology, digital farming, brand development, and marketing of agricultural products and tropical fruits.

“This MoC aims to share insights into the agricultural industry revolution among the parties involved, including the cultivation of grass jelly and tropical fruits, by leveraging the digitalisation of agricultural technologies and farming practices.

“Through this partnership, we will be able to empower Selangor farmers with modern agricultural practices whilst creating new employment opportunities,” he said after the signing ceremony at Wisma PKPS.

Chan expressed hope that this collaboration would create opportunities for business expansion in Southeast Asia, particularly within the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership market.

The partnering companies possess extensive global experience in agriculture and marketing.

Meanwhile, Yufeng board of directors vice-chairman Wang Jianfeng shared that his company has been involved in grass jelly cultivation and processing in China for 30 years, and has become one of the country’s focal industries amid various agricultural revolutions.

“We aim to share our expertise and expand this industry in Malaysia, as we see significant potential for growth here,” he said.

Previously, state executive councillor for public infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim revealed Selangor is focusing on modern and high-value agriculture to reduce dependence on imported food and increase farmer incomes.

Izham added that the state, through the Selangor Agro Transformation Plan, aims to boost productivity and farmer incomes by encouraging them to venture into high-value agriculture.
