KUANTAN, Dec 22 — The #KitaSelangor Students Roadshow was held yesterday at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) to publicise the state’s initiatives for the young generation.

Peninsular Malay Students Coalition (Selangor) chairman Mohd Hidayat Mohd Sauffi said the programme that was launched this year aims to facilitate applications from youth so they benefit from various initiatives.

“Selangor has many initiatives, among them, RM1,000 in aid (Higher Learning Institution Studies Aid) for Selangor youth who gain entry into public universities.

“The state government also grants a RM500 subsidy to obtain driving licences through Ride Selangor. Selangor youth are also protected under a group insurance.

“If something (untoward) happens, their next of kin or families will receive RM10,000. This is why we are visiting several universities: so the young generation know the state’s programmes and offers,” said Hidayat, who is also Selangor Student Development Secretariat chairman.

The state administration launched the roadshow under the 2024 Selangor State Budget, and have visited Selangor youth at public universities nationwide.

The programme, with Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari also in attendance, was held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah in February and Universiti Sains Malaysia in July.

About 300 UMPSA, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (Gambang branch), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin students attended this edition.
