SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — The state government, in collaboration with the Federal hovernment, will streamline the functions of special officers and flood management methods.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a special briefing involving various state and Federal agencies will be conducted soon, including detailing information to address flood-related issues.
"This is very important. For example, in the Bukit Raja Klang area, Taman Mutiara, Shah Alam, the flood problem persists because the highway concessionaire does not allow us to relocate the pipes in the area.
"If we could relocate the pipes, the flood problem there would be resolved. However, with the involvement of the Federal government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who holds the portfolio for the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, I believe this matter can be addressed," he said.
Amirudin was speaking to the press after officiating the 2024 Environmental Carnival organised by the Selayang Municipal Council at the Batu Caves Public Park yesterday.
On December 5, the Sultan of Selangor directed the state government and the Klang Royal City Council to take immediate steps to address the flooding issue.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj also decreed that a comprehensive plan be drafted immediately and a special team formed to tackle the issue.
His Royal Highness emphasised that repeated reminders have been given for the state government and the local authorities to take effective measures to resolve the flood issues frequently occurring in Klang and several other districts in Selangor.
