KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has urged authorities to quickly resolve the case of an acid attack against Selangor FC player Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim.

The Sultan of Selangor expressed his profound disappointment by the delay in the case and stated that the case is “simple and clear cut”.

“With social media and modern technology, you cannot hide anything. I followed the case in the state assembly and hope that somehow this can be resolved soon.

“This is a clear-cut case, and the incident has destroyed Muhammad Faisal’s life,” said the Selangor Ruler as quoted in a report by The Star today.

On November 29, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the investigation into the acid attack is ongoing.

To date, authorities have detained three people and recorded statements from 23 others, but no evidence has been found linking potential suspects to the crime.

On November 25, the Selangor State Legislative Assembly was told that state police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had informed that the case had been taken over by the Bukit Aman’s Elite Crime Investigation Unit.

The 26-year-old winger, popularly known as “Mickey”, sustained fourth-degree burns on multiple parts of his body after an unknown assailant attacked him with acid outside a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya on May 5.

When asked if His Royal Highness believed a hidden hand is behind the case, Sultan Sharafuddin responded: “To be precise, somewhere there (seems to be) a remote control, but I do not want to accuse any party.”

No place for bullying in society

Sultan Sharafuddin also urged the eradication of bullying in schools and universities, highlighting the need for law enforcement and the judiciary to impose punishments that reflect the seriousness of such offences.

“Cyberbullying and bullying in general must not be allowed,” said His Royal Highness in response to a recent incident where bullying on social media led to an influencer’s death.

The Selangor ruler also addressed recent bullying cases at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, in which five cadet officers were expelled, dismissed from the army, and ordered to compensate the government due to their involvement in three separate bullying incidents.

According to His Royal Highness, being a bully does not show toughness. He also advised people to respect each other and live in harmony.

“Bullying cases cannot be accepted. Where did they get the idea to bully?

“Armed forces should be disciplined, and (the bullying cases) were at a university, not a school,” Sultan Sharafuddin said, adding that he holds the institution’s officials accountable since the incidents, which came to light only after an instructor noticed injuries on a victim, occurred behind closed doors.

His Royal Highness said those involved in bullying cases in the country would generally not take responsibility. He added that if it happened in Japan, those involved would have resigned and apologised.
