SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — The state government is targeting a RM6 million increase in land and strata tax collection next year, facilitated by the provision of new vans for all District and Land Offices.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said nine vans, to be used as mobile collection counters, have been allocated for RM2.69 million.
“Previously, we utilised vans since 2016, but as they aged beyond eight years, issues with breakdowns began to hinder the offices' efforts to collect taxes in the field.
“The state government deems it appropriate to replace these tax collection vans to provide convenience for taxpayers and staff on duty,” he said during a press conference yesterday.
Earlier, Amirudin officiated the handover ceremony of the land and strata tax collection vans, which was also attended by Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim, at Wisma Dewan Negeri Selangor.
The Menteri Besar added that the new vans are equipped with enhanced safety features including closed-circuit television, dashboard cameras, as well as air conditioning and a more comfortable interior layout.
“Based on collection performance, these safer and more comfortable mobile collection vans at the offices are expected to further contribute to achieving the targeted tax collection increase,” he said.
