SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 — The Selangor government is teaming up with Google to launch the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Trailblazers programme, aiming to enhance the use of advanced technologies across various processes.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin said the state will also develop a Selangor AI Incubator Centre to help the state continue to lead in the adoption and mastery of AI.
A total of RM5 million will be allocated under the 2025 Selangor Budget for these purposes.
According to Amirudin, the AI Trailblazers Initiative, which will be implemented via a pilot project, aims to see the application of AI in the state’s administrative system, financial management, and business management, among others.
The programme, which will be co-managed by Google through its Gemini AI product, seeks to address current administrative and industrial needs with innovative solutions
“The programme will be managed via the ‘sandbox’ concept and will last eight weeks, with the involvement of 50 participants representing Selangor’s key administrative and industrial sectors,” he said when tabling the at the State Legislative Assembly, here, today.
Amirudin added that the initiative will allow access to the Google Cloud AI facilities.
On the Selangor AI Incubator Centre, the Menteri Besar said it will serve as a facility equipped with resources for Selangor to continue to lead in AI adoption.
“The first phase will be developed with the concept of an AI technology training centre. It will be equipped with various facilities and offer AI-related education and certification programmes.
“The proposal is to have the incubator centre be placed under the Selangor International Innovation Centre of Excellence, overseen by the Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC),” he said.
A total of RM3 billion is allocated for the 2025 Selangor Budget, an increase of RM470 million compared to this year’s budget.
Themed ‘A Dynamic Selangor: An Ideal Quest for a Civil Malaysia,’ the state budget has five main thrusts, namely Artificial Intelligence and Education as a Catalyst for State Economic Development, Uplifting an Aspiration of a Sustainable Environment and Quality Infrastructure, Promoting a Compassionate State, Championing an Efficient and Responsible System of Government, and Breathing New Life into the Creative Economy and Developing the Next Generation.
