SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — The project plan to construct schools announced in Budget 2025 is a strategic step in addressing issues of access to education, said Lembah Jaya state assemblyman Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman.

He said the initiative is expected to reduce the educational gap between urban and rural areas.

"This initiative not only supports human capital development but also helps reduce the educational gap between urban and rural areas.

"Investment in the education sector aligns with efforts to strengthen technical and vocational training, which will ensure the country is prepared to face future challenges in a knowledge and technology-based economy," he said in a statement.

44 new schools will begin construction next year, including SMK Bandar Seri Putra (2) in Hulu Langat, SMK Lok Kawi in Putatan, Sabah; SMK Semeling in Sungai Petani, Kedah; and SK Dudong in Sibu, Sarawak.

Ahmad added that Budget 2025 also focuses on special needs groups with the construction of more autism centres across the country.

This measure reflects the Federal government's concern for special needs children while ensuring they and their families receive the necessary support.

"It is a significant effort to promote social equality and provide the best education and therapy opportunities for this group," he said.

11 new Permata Centres will be built to equip every state with educational centres for autistic children, including in Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah, and Sarawak.

Tthe government has also allocated the Autism Children's Learning Fee Assistance, which is expected to benefit 30,000 autistic children with a RM15 million fund.

Commenting on subsidy targeting, Ahmad said it demonstrates that the government does not yield to populist pressures, thereby preventing wastage.

Rather, the government could reduce the deficit without sacrificing the welfare of the people, particularly through more efficient distribution of subsidies and assistance.

"Overall, I believe this Budget 2025 is a comprehensive budget that aligns with the concept of a Madani Economy, where a significant amount of money is allocated to restructure the economic foundation and drive growth," he said.
