PKNS aims to develop 6,000 acres of industrial land by 2030

SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is looking to develop over 6,600 acres of industrial land by 2030, creating a “Selangor New Growth Corridor”.

PKNS said the initiative includes key areas in the state such as Port Klang, Bandar Sultan Sulaiman, Kota Puteri, Carey Island, Bernam Jaya, Shah Alam, and the Selangor Cyber Valley.

To achieve the target, PKNS through its participation in the Klang Sustainable Convention 2024 ESG for SDG, held from October 9 to 12, showcased its Green Industrial Park (GRIP) and Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ) development projects to local stakeholders, developers, and community groups.

“This engagement also provides PKNS with the opportunity to display its green initiatives and sustainable development projects that align with Selangor’s long-term objectives,” it said in a statement.

Two key components of the GRIP are the Managed Industrial Park and the Green Real Estate where the first phase of the projects involves the development of 13 exclusive industrial lots in Rawang.

“GRIP is not just another development; it embodies the state’s vision for a more sustainable, resilient, and prosperous economy. The GRIP development project exemplifies PKNS’ unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” it added.

On the development of CLQ, PKNS said it is meant to address the shortage of clean and organised accommodation for foreign workers while adding significant value to industrial parks.

“In the Klang area, PKNS is progressing in three key industrial projects, with two CLQs set to complement the needs of GRIP Port Klang and the surrounding area of Bandar Sultan Sulaiman.

“Sustainability is at the heart of GRIP’s design, featuring water recycling systems, effective waste management, the use of green building materials, and Green Power Solutions, supported by PKNS subsidiary Worldwide Holdings Bhd,” it said.
