KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The Second Series of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 kicked off today as the state looks to position itself as a business gateway to Asean, to foster regional partnerships and economic growth.
Held until Saturday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event features more than 650 booths from various sectors and is expected to draw 12,000 visitors from 18 countries.
“This event serves as a vital platform to promote cross-border trade, facilitate networking, showcase innovations, and drive business expansion across Asean,” Invest Selangor Bhd said in a statement today.
The second series sees the organisation of the 10th Selangor International Expo Food and Beverage (SIE F&B), fourth Selangor Life Sciences Convention, and ninth Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention.
The Selangor International Halal Convention will also make its debut in SIBS, featuring as part of the SIE F&B.
Among the highlights of the summit are the Medical Device Seminar held today, as well as the Selangor Life Sciences Synergy Conference and Selangor-Korea Sustainable Futures Seminar tomorrow, which will feature Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Amirudin will also headline special networking session “In Conversation with the Selangor Menteri Besar”.
The third day of the event will see a special cooking demonstration featuring Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. The summit will conclude with the announcement of participants of the Selangor Accelerator Programme.
The second leg of SIBS follows the success of its first half held in July, which saw a turnout of 8,550 visitors from 22 countries and generated RM12.2 billion in potential transaction value.
