SELAYANG, Oct 4 — The Selangor 1000 Digital programme that was introduced this year to help entrepreneurs grow their business has received encouraging response, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said under the programme that started in May, five tour series have been held, drawing 2,800 participants, 200 per cent higher than its initial target of 1,000.
“We aimed for 1,000 entrepreneurs but 2,800 people have registered overall, nearly 1,500 joining the event in person.
“This programme is effective. Since 2014, we have emphasised digitalisation, and now, nearly every year, we have been able to draw between 700 and 800 entrepreneurs to the digital path,” he said to the media after launching the final series.
Meanwhile, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said nearly 80 per cent of participants from every series have moved to digital platforms to sell their products.
“Some of the participants have also been livestreaming to sell their products, earning income rises of between RM500 and RM1,000 a month.
“This programme not only targets participants’ incomes, but also exposes them to marketing know-how, content creation techniques, and digital payment systems,” he said.
In May, the state government introduced Selangor 1000 Digital to promote digital transformation among local entrepreneurs.
It is organised by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, Selangor Economic Planning Unit, and Platform Selangor.
