SHAH ALAM, Oct 1 — The Selangor Wakaf Corporation (Wakaf Selangor) deputy chief executive officer (CEO) Anuar Hamzah Tohas has been appointed to the top post after a decade of serving in his current position.
The state agency said his appointment as the new CEO, which takes effect beginning today, has been consented to by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
“We extend our heartiest congratulations to Anuar Hamzah on his appointment as the new CEO of Wakaf Selangor.
“His capabilities, expertise and extensive experience in managing wakaf in the state have been the key pillars driving Wakaf Selangor towards greater success,” it said in a Facebook post today.
Anuar was among the pioneers of Wakaf Selangor when the agency was set up in 2011, serving as its marketing and outreach manager at the time.
He was appointed to the deputy CEO post three years later, serving in the position before his promotion today.
Before joining Wakaf Selangor, Anuar had served in various positions at the Selangor Islamic Religious Council and Selangor Islamic Religious Department, among others.
The Kuala Langat native was accorded the Darjah Kebesaran Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (S.I.S.) award in 2022.
He has a Diploma in Usuluddin (Islamic Theology) from Kolej Ugama Sultan Zainal Abidin and a Bachelor's Degree in Usuluddin from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
