HULU LANGAT, Sept 30 — The Selangor free health screenings have been organised in more than 30 Selangor constituencies, which benefitted thousands of participants, said Jamaliah Jamaluddin.

The state executive for public health said that her office has been actively promoting the Selangor Saring programme to other state constituencies to ensure more citizens can benefit.

“The state government aims to increase the number of free screenings by providing opportunities for village heads and council members to coordinate directly with my office.

“They can also organise these programmes without waiting for approval from the state constituency community centre. The only condition is that there should be over 100 participants, and the state is always ready to propose dates for implementing the programme in their respective areas,” she said during the Malaysia Madani Mini Health Carnival at the Dewan Serbaguna Bandar Teknologi Kajang, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Jamaliah said that high sugar and cholesterol levels are the most common issues identified through the Selangor Saring programme.

“The most commonly detected illnesses are lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, which is frequently seen among Malaysians, given the variety of delicious foods we have.

“The screening results will be sent via the SELangkah mobile app for participants to undergo follow-up checks at nearby panel clinics,” she added.

In the 2024 Selangor State Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced an allocation of RM3.2 million to continue the free health screenings this year.
