KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — The participation of entrepreneurs from the state in the Selangor Pavilion at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) 2024 has helped expand their product markets.

This was according to the participants, who commended the programme for serving as a platform to local businesses to shine.

Citra Kesom Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Yazra Nadia Yahaya said her kombucha beverage brand, Boomchaz, is now export-ready and has garnered interest from potential buyers after participating in the event for the second time.

“Our product is four years old. In the first year of participating in Mihas, we received feedback our products were not yet ready for export due to packaging issues.

“For our second appearance, we made improvements and introduced kombucha products in packet and powder forms, instead of bottles, which are more suitable for export. As a result, we now have potential buyers from overseas,” she said when met yesterday.

Mamarai Ventures Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Yussahril Ismail said taking part in the showcase has provided an opportunity for his company to gain exposure to the export market.

“Although it has been in the market for two years, our product has successfully penetrated major supermarkets like Mydin, ST Rosyam and Aeon Big.

“In conjunction with Mihas, we studied exporting to further expand our product market to cover various segments, including frozen goods.”
