SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — The Human Resources Ministry has said the implementation of proactive policies by developed states like Selangor has contributed to the drop in Malaysia’s unemployment rate
Its secretary-general Datuk Azman Yusof said such initiatives by the state include providing high-value jobs in the aerospace and aviation industries.
Citing a recent report by the Statistics Department, he said the national unemployment rate has continued to decline in the second quarter of this year, in line with increased demand for labour in the economic sector.

“The number of people looking for jobs grew by 2.5 per cent, reaching 17.15 million. This is mostly due to the increase in employment by 2.5 per cent in June, or 16.59 million in total.
“I believe this positive trend is driven by proactive policies and implementation by advanced states like Selangor, offering high-value jobs to the people like in this aerospace and aviation industry,” Azman said at the launch of the career fair held in conjunction with the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2024 at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre (RAC) in Bukit Jelutong today.
He is optimistic that the job fair will be able to draw strong interest and numerous applications from job seekers in the aviation industry.
The SAS’ second edition of the career fair connects job seekers with over 38 aerospace and aviation companies, including National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd, UMW Aerospace, Bombardier, and Skyways Technics Asia.
A partnership between the state government and the Social Security Organisation also aims to bridge talent and industry in this fast-growing sector.
