SHAH ALAM, Sept 12 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, has inked several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and memorandums of collaboration (MOCs) at the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2024.
In a statement, it said a key partnership involves a tripartite MOU with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA).
“This agreement will pave the way for the expansion of the GTA maintenance, repair, and overhaul centre in Selangor.
“The expansion will enhance Selangor’s aerospace infrastructure and create new job opportunities for local residents,” it said.
It highlighted that by fostering a thriving aerospace ecosystem, these MOUs and MOCs will create opportunities for local industry players to thrive alongside the sector’s growth, contributing to the nation’s economic prosperity and technological advancement.
Meanwhile, under the MOC, MBI will take the lead in identifying and assigning suitable strategic land within the park, as well as coordinating with statutory bodies and local authorities, whereas Qube Nexus Sdn Bhd will focus on identifying strategic partnerships and investors.
“This collaboration aims to attract international investors and talent, contributing to Selangor’s economic diversification and positioning the state as a global leader in Islamic finance,” it stated.
Another significant partnership is with Vencast Sdn Bhd, through which MBI will actively support Vencast’s new manufacturing site by facilitating land acquisition and regulatory processes, whereas Vencast, in turn, will oversee project planning, execution, and management.
“This collaboration builds on Vencast’s recent partnership with Turkish Aerospace Industries, which will see Vencast supply parts and establish a manufacturing hub in Selangor.
“MBI has also entered into an MOC with Batik Air to develop a hangar and maintenance facilities in Selangor Aero Park,” it said.
MBI has also signed a tripartite MOC with Apeiron Agrocommodities Pte Ltd and Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre, in a commitment to both national sustainability goals and advancing Malaysia’s position in the aerospace industry.
This partnership will conduct a feasibility study on developing sustainable aviation fuel and waste-to-fuel ecosystems within the state.
The MOU and MOC signing ceremony was led by MBI group chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop and representatives from the respective companies.
The event was witnessed by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, state secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, and Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari.
