SHAH ALAM, Aug 29 — Industry leaders have urged the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and drive innovation.

During a forum at the PKNS Transformation Seminar: Opportunities And Challenges today, KWEST Sdn Bhd chair Datuk Maznah Abdul Jalil suggested PKNS leverage AI to transform the company.

This is crucial, she said, as AI is a powerful tool for modernisation.

Maznah said the state agency should use facts and figures to address challenges collaboratively.

“If you’ve collected all the data, don’t generalise — use these facts and figures, share them with the entire team and work together to find solutions. If the whole organisation comes together, you will see how you can improve.

“We need to wake up, refresh, and adapt to today’s environment.

“Embracing technology is the only way to transform and elevate the company to the next level. We are focused on working efficiently to ensure success,” she said at the seminar held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here today.

The seminar was held in conjunction with PKNS’ 60th anniversary.

Other experts featured in the forum were Ikhlas Capital chairman and founding partner Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Abdul Razak and digital health start-up Naluri’s chief executive officer Azran Osman Rani.

Like Maznah, Nazir emphasised the need for PKNS to employ AI in its operations, emphasising its transformative potential for the company.

He believes AI can significantly enhance operational efficiency and provide substantial benefits.

This, he said, aligns with broader trends where AI is increasingly recognised for its ability to drive innovation and improve productivity.

“Renewable energy is something (PKNS) is already involved in. What PKNS needs to focus on is expanding into the AI space, as it will transform everything we do and is something no company can afford to ignore.

“While AI may seem scary, it is also one of the most powerful technologies we have. If we manage AI effectively, it can become an incredibly important and powerful tool for the future of this country,” said the former CIMB Group chief executive.

Since its inception in August 1964, PKNS has expanded significantly and now operates 12 subsidiaries across seven business sectors, including renewable energy, healthcare, waste management, industry, hospitality, and micro, small, and medium enterprise development, alongside its core focus on real estate.
