SABAK BERNAM, Aug 27 — Some 3,800 youth have benefited from the Raja Muda of Selangor Foundation (YRMS) to develop their skills in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Its board of trustees chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda said the foundation, which was launched in 2003, aims to identify and nurture young talent across the country in various skill areas.

“YRMS was set up to provide opportunities for marginalised youths and those with less academic inclination but who have hidden talents and skills.

“It supports youth aged between 16 and 30 by helping them build self-confidence and develop their talents to enable them to gain employment," he said in his speech at the YRMS TVET Open Day at Sultan Idris Shah Polytechnic here today.

He said this in the presence of Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Raja Arshad said YRMS assists youth through three programmes — self-exploration workshops, skills-based training, and Talent for the World, an initiative that offers guidance to selected candidates to polish their skills.

He said the TVET Open Day is a platform for all to gain a better understanding of the TVET world while increasing students' interest in the field.

“Since 2022, this programme has been conducted in collaboration with the Polytechnic and Community College Education Department, with the first edition held at Selayang Community College and last year’s event at Kuala Langat Community College,” he said.
