SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — Water supply in areas affected by an unscheduled suspension of operations at the Sungai Bernam treatment plant has recovered by 73.3 per cent as at 6pm today.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the localities affected are in Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam, where water supply is expected to fully resume by midnight.
“Recovery times for each location vary based on their distance from the treatment plant and water pressure in the distribution system,” Air Selangor said in a statement today.
Water tankers have been sent to affected areas, with Air Selangor prioritising critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funeral ceremonies.
Consumers can obtain more information on the Air Selangor water updates website, the Air Selangor app, its Facebook, Instagram and X pages, by calling the company at 15300, or visiting its website.
As at 9pm yesterday, the Sungai Bernam water treatment plant was allowed to resume operations in stages, after being suspended temporarily following the high turbidity of raw water in the river due to water surges.
