SHAH ALAM, Aug 19 — The state government is distributing 60,000 Jalur Gemilang to local authorities to be given out to the public in a bid to enliven Merdeka month.
State executive councillor for unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said each local council will receive 5,000 flags.
“We are distributing 5,000 Malaysian flags to each local council and district to ensure that every premise proudly displays the Jalur Gemilang, boosting patriotism.
“I’ve also noticed many premises and companies organising activities for the Merdeka month. We encourage them to continue holding such programmes,” he told reporters today.

Earlier, Rizam officiated a community mediators engagement session with state agencies and the presentation of the appointment letters at the Midlands Convention Centre here.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign on July 21 to instil patriotism among the people.
The 67th Merdeka celebration themed “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka” will be held in Putrajaya on August 31, while the Malaysia Day celebration will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on September 16.
