Reshuffle speculation serves as warning to state leadership — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — Speculation about the much-discussed reshuffle and restructuring recently has become a 'wake-up call' for the state executive councillor line-up.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said it serves as a reminder for the state leadership, appointed a year ago, to carry out their duties and responsibilities more effectively.

“Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari also said there would be no reshuffle, and he is comfortable with the (existing) Selangor State Executive Council team.

“I think this is one of the reasons why we as state executive councillors and leaders should focus and concentrate on our duties of fulfilling Selangor's agenda,” he said.

Najwan was speaking as a guest on the second season of the 'Apa Cer YB' live broadcast audio show yesterday.

However, he said that Amirudin's announcement is not a reason for the remaining leaders to feel complacent but instead be more dedicated to the state's development agenda.

“This is because, after the election, the people chose us not for us to be idle, but for us to provide services and focus on our duties in the state,” Najwan said.

Previously, an online news portal reported that the Selangor administration was mulling over a potential reshuffle of the state executive councillor line-up, involving leaders from Parti Keadilan Rakyat and DAP.

The replacement would supposedly take place by the end of this month or in September, with the main rationale to provide opportunities to more experienced individuals instead of underperforming councillors

However, the Menteri Besar denied this, stating that no reshuffle has been conducted so far as Selangor has a strong team.

He said the current line-up is fulfilling their responsibilities well and cooperating with one another, but they should also improve upon their individual performance.
