SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 – Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he will continue leading the state government, despite talk of a federal Cabinet shake-up.
He said this is to ensure the ongoing implementation of the Selangor development agenda, particularly the successful implementation of the First Selangor Plan.
Amirudin, who is also Gombak MP, said he had not received any indication of being appointed as a federal minister, noting that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied plans for a reshuffle.
“So far, there has been no indication I will be appointed as a Cabinet member.
“However, as a loyal PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) member, I will accept and fulfil responsibilities entrusted to me if I am appointed a Cabinet member in the future,” he said, commenting on rumours that a menteri besar from Keadilan may be appointed to Cabinet.
He said this at a press conference after launching the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme 2024 at Dewan Raja Muda Musa here today.
Yesterday, Anwar denied plans of a Cabinet reshuffle.
Addressing claims of a potential reshuffle within the state executive council, which could see two members replaced, Amirudin said the possibility remains, depending on circumstances such as illness and death.
“But for now, I have a strong team in Selangor. We work well together and recognise the need to improve our performance to strengthen our service after a year of administration,” he said.
Amirudin said the allegations are a valuable reminder for all executive councillors, including himself, to fulfil their promises and achieve targets.
“At last week’s state government meeting, I shared my view that both myself and all executive councillors must improve our performance in the state assembly and focus on achieving our goals,” he said.
