PETALING JAYA, Aug 3 — Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei is urging young people to capitalise on the Selangor Saring initiative after the free health screening programme in her constituency today was attended mostly by elderly citizens.
She said the programme, held for the first time in Kampung Tunku, saw attendees who were largely aged 50 and above.
"We strongly encourage young people to come for the health screening, especially those with a family history of cancer. This programme is not exclusively for senior citizens.
"This initiative offers various types of screenings. Therefore, take advantage of this opportunity, especially as it is free, compared to doing it elsewhere," she told Media Selangor at the SS3 Petaling Jaya City Council multipurpose hall, here, today.
Over 200 people attended today’s Selangor Saring programme at the Kampung Tunku constituency level, benefitting from the various screenings provided.

Meanwhile, Mimizalina Ab Rahman, 61, said the free health screening programme should be continued as they help the public better understand their health status.
Senior citizen Cheah Swee Kit, 76, expressed delight that the programme was held near his home, while commending the state government for conducting comprehensive screenings for residents.
Previously, when tabling the 2024 Selangor Budget, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced an allocation of RM3.2 million to ensure the continued success of the free health screening programme this year.
Selangor Saring is held every month in different state constituencies. Last month, the programme was organised in the constituencies of Paya Jaras, Dengkil, Sungai Tua, Batu Tiga and Pandamaran.
