SHAH ALAM, Aug 1 — The Mega Road Resurfacing Project continues this year with a RM20 million allocation to ensure the state's roads are in good condition and to guarantee users' safety.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim said that through the additional allocation of the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris), the project involves all routes, including state roads, the local authorities, and village roads.
“We are now open for applications under the Public Works Department. State constituency service centres and village heads can apply.

"Previously, we repaired (the roads) according to district limits, but this time we prioritise early applications and serious damage levels.
“Starting this year, the mega project will be conducted annually. This is more effective, and roads will only require maintenance costs compared to the high costs of implementing projects every four or five years,” he said at an event in Damansara yesterday.
Last year, the state government spent RM50 million on the Mega Road Resurfacing Project, covering maintenance and road widening to improve residents' facilities, which was carried out comprehensively.
Covering 94.9 kilometres, the maintenance work involved 66 roads in Petaling, followed by Klang (39), Gombak (29), Hulu Langat (27), Sepang (19), Sabak Bernam (17), Kuala Langat (16), Kuala Selangor (11), and Hulu Selangor (eight).
The selection of roads for repair work was based on the highest number of complaints from the public, reported through X (formerly Twitter) or the Infrasel app, which is managed by state-owned subsidiary Infrasel Sdn Bhd.
From 2021 to last year, over 39,000 road paving works were carried out by Infrasel to ensure the comfort and safety of road users.
