SHAH ALAM, July 30 — The first National Subfertility Centre (PSN), being built in Seksyen 17 here, will offer subsidies of up to 20 per cent for fertility treatments.

National Population and Family Development Board Malaysia deputy chairman Juwairiya Zulkifli said the PSN will help couples with problems conceiving as treatment costs could reach RM30,000.

“The centre offers fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination and in-vitro fertilisation. PSN offers prices of between 15 and 20 per cent lower, with subsidies borne by the government.

“Couples trying for children are encouraged to be treated at this centre, be it husband or wife. We have experts who can help,” said Juwairiya at a media conference.

Earlier, she attended the 2024 Selangor State Population Seminar, which was officiated by state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari at Hotel de Palma here today.

PSN was approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan to provide comprehensive fertility treatments and serve as a coordination centre for research, current treatment technologies, and expert training, with an allocation of RM171 million.

The centre, expected to be operational in 2029, contains various subfertility treatment service components.

“The nation now only has three subfertility clinics in Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang. This PSN is a large-scale planned development,” Juwairiya said.
