SHAH ALAM, July 24 — The water supply recovery to seven areas in the Klang Valley affected by the recent unscheduled water disruption has now reached 55.2 per cent as of 9pm, said Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

It said the percentage of water supply recovery in the affected areas is expected to reach approximately 40 per cent by 8am tomorrow. followed by 90 per cent by 8pm on the same day.

"The full recovery time is expected to be at 8am on Friday (July 26). For your information, the duration of this water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location of consumers' premises and the water pressure at the distribution system," it said in a statement tonight.

Air Selangor advised consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the tap flow until it is clear before using.

"We hope that consumers who have received water supply will use water prudently to ensure the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly.

"Consumers can obtain information on this water supply disruption from time to time through our official communication channels at waterupdates.airselangor.com," it said.

Consumers can also obtain information from alternative official communication channels such as the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), call Air Selangor’s Call Centre at 15300, or visit https://www.airselangor.com/.

The water supply disruption was believed to have been caused by discharge from an acrylic materials-processing factory in Rawang. A chemical leak from one of its storage tanks flowed into drains and subsequently into Sungai Kuang, affecting several other rivers as well.

The odour pollution resulted in the temporary suspension of the Rantau Panjang WTP and the Sungai Selangor Phases 1, 2, and 3 WTPs, as well as disrupting the water supply to seven regions in the Klang Valley.

The areas affected include Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, and Kuala Selangor.
