SHAH ALAM, July 20 — Foreign companies' confidence in investing in Selangor continues to grow due to the administration's commitment and cooperation, said the state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility, Ng Sze Han.
He said the most recent instance of this would be the investment made by Chery Auto Malaysia, which opened a vehicle assembly plant in Shah Alam last month.
“Therefore, the state government will continue to be committed to efforts to further enhance Selangor's economy. Among other things, we will enhance key sectors like semiconductors.
“Simultaneously, we will open up pathways and opportunities to advanced industries such as automotive manufacturing,” he told SelangorKini.
During the plant's opening ceremony on June 18, Chery Automobile Co Ltd chairman Yin Tongyue said Chery Auto Malaysia had invested over RM1 billion in this country since last year, including the plant.
Operating near the local production area, it will offer over 500 job opportunities with an additional 1,000 positions in sales, service, and spare parts centres for the vehicle brand nationwide.
Previously, tech giant Google also invested in the Elmina Business Park, Sungai Buloh, with a RM9.4 billion investment value, thereby offering high-value job opportunities.
