SUBANG JAYA, July 18 — Selangor will present nine resolutions on child protection and welfare at the national symposium in September this year, said state executive councillor for social welfare and women empowerment Anfaal Saari.

Its finalised resolutions will include efforts to address child neglect and negligence.

"These resolutions were handed to me after being discussed in the Children's Protection Team and Children's Welfare Team conferences. These teams are among the grassroots groups directly involved in protecting children.

"The nine resolutions are findings from each district across Selangor concerning child protection and welfare. Although they differ, their aim is the same, which is the well-being of children," she said.

Anfaal was speaking to the press after officiating the closing ceremony of the Children's Protection Team and Children's Welfare Team conference at the Geno Hotel yesterday.

The councillor also urged the community to be the first to report any incidents if they feel neglect or abuse is occurring.

"Data from the Selangor police contingent headquarters indicate the state has the highest number of neglect cases compared to others. Neglect includes parents not sending their children to school and carelessness.

"One of the factors contributing to these cases is population density, with 80 per cent of the cases recorded to have occurred at home. Therefore, we want the community, especially neighbours, to be aware of their surroundings and provide information.

"Furthermore, we have approved a RM50,000 allocation under Sinergi Prihatin 2024 for organising the state-level Children's Protection Advocacy Programme next month," she said.
