SHAH ALAM, July 16 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has been admitted to the hospital for deferred cataract surgery and a full medical check-up.
The Selangor Royal Office said in a brief statement on Facebook today that this follows advice from His Royal Highness' doctors.
“Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj is currently in the hospital to undergo a full medical check-up and cataract surgery on his right eye, which has been postponed for eight months.
“His Royal Highness had previously undergone a similar surgery on his left eye,” it said but did not provide further details.
After the procedure is completed, the state Ruler is expected to be in recovery for 10 days.
On July 28 last year, His Royal Highness travelled to London, the United Kingdom, to undergo treatment and surgery for a prostate-related illness (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate).
Sultan Sharafuddin returned home on August 15 and was welcomed at the airport by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
