Mini EsportsCon at Parliament: Recognition of Malaysia's e-sports industry

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4— The inaugural Mini EsportsCon at the Parliament building today brought together electronic sports (e-sports) stakeholders and leading local and international game publishers.

Esports Integrated (ESI) said the event celebrated the dynamic and rapidly expanding e-sports industry in Malaysia.

In addition, it also provided space for engagement sessions between e-sports industry players and Parliament members, particularly the MPs, as national legislators.

"I want to thank all MPs who were present and others who turned up to support the Mini EsportsCon at Parliament.

"This event marks an important achievement in recognising the potential of e-sports as a dynamic and influential industry. We hope the incentives will be well-received and give a clearer picture to policymakers about the expanding e-sports landscape,” said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim in a statement.

The Mini EsportsCon, organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry via ESI, was also jointly managed by the Malaysia Electronic Sports Federation (MESF), Moonton, Tencent, Raceroom Asia, Gamesbond, Ammobox Studios, Kaigan Games, and Todak Studios.

The activities included an introduction session to e-sports and a game demonstration session offering hands-on experience with various game titles.

Mini EsportsCon also featured the presentation of the National Esports Development Guidelines, which were developed to support the implementation of strategies under the National Electronic Sports Strategic Plan 2020-2025.

"MESF also showcased Esports MedicA, an initiative created to provide education and health-related advisory services to industry players, especially the players,” ESI said.
