SHAH ALAM, July 4 — As the Selangor State Legislative Assembly convenes for its second meeting of the year today, particular focus will be on the much-anticipated First Selangor Plan (RS-1) mid-term review.

Scheduled to be tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the state government is expected to provide updates on the plan's progress thus far and announce the necessary adjustments to align with current needs.

Previously, state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the mid-term review would provide a clearer indication of the progress of state government projects, including the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss).

“This is one of the focal points, and we believe these projects will further drive the state’s economy. Through this (mid-term review) presentation, residents will be able to learn more,” he said.

The state assembly will convene from July 4 to July 18.

Among other important agenda that will be the highlight of today’s sitting is the swearing-in ceremony of newly-elected Kuala Kubu Baharu state assemblyman Pang Sock Tao, who won the by-election on May 11 with a majority of 3,869 votes.

The poll was held after the passing of its former representative Lee Kee Hiong on March 21 from cancer.

Another major policy to be highlighted during the ongoing meeting is the Selangor Women's Policy and Action Plan 2024-2026.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari had said the plan aims to focus on issues like flexible working hours for women and gender mainstreaming, which needs the involvement of all parties.

Gender mainstreaming, for instance, is a focal point in the plan, and four state executive councillors are leading efforts to implement it.

The women’s policy and action plan was launched on May 31 to centre the group’s well-being and enhance their capabilities.

Selangor residents can watch the state assembly sitting live on Selangor TV’s website or it YouTube channel. The public can also read the latest news from the state assembly on Selangor Journal’s portal.
