SHAH ALAM, June 28 — The Selangor FC Solidarity Fund, which was launched on Wednesday, has raised RM34,357.15 as at noon today.

This figure is over half of the RM60,000 fine imposed by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) on the Red Giants.

On X, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi expressed his gratitude to fund contributors.

“Thank you to all donors from across the country who have expressed their support and solidarity with Selangor FC.

“For those who wish to contribute RM1 as a sign of solidarity with the team, you can scan the QR code,” he said today.

The fund, which was launched by the government via the Selangor Sports Council, will remain open until July 2.

This comes after the MFL imposed penalties on Selangor FC for missing their Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim on May 10.

The MFL originally ordered Selangor FC to pay a RM100,000 fine, deducted three points from their 2024/2025 Super League campaign, banned spectators from watching their home game against JDT, and ordered them to pay compensation to the MFL and JDT for losses due to their absence from the season opener at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Johor.

The football authority later reviewed the punishment by reducing the fine from RM100,000 to RM60,000, cancelling the three-point deduction, and allowing spectators to watch their match with JDT.

Selangor FC have said they will appeal the decision.
