Selangor plans launch of educational module for disabled children

SHAH ALAM, June 5 — The Selangor government intends to launch a module on education specially designed for children with disabilities, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

She said the proposal was tabled by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Permata Kurnia, an organisation focusing on the education of disabled children, during a retreat on the module’s development over the weekend.

“My sincere hope is that the module that will be published will serve as a manual or reference material for parents of children with disabilities.

“This reflects the commitment of the state government, through AnIS (Selangor Special Needs Children Initiative), to assist parents in managing the lives of their children to the best of their abilities,” she said in a posting on X yesterday.

Anfaal explained that the aim of this initiative is to develop intervention modules in the education of children with disabilities and to enhance parental involvement.

Previously, Anfaal had said that under the First Selangor Plan, the state has outlined more than 12 programmes to support the development and welfare of family institutions in Selangor.

They include incentives for education and therapy for special needs children, childcare programmes in kindergartens for B40 families and early childhood education in kindergartens.
