SHAH ALAM, May 17 — Selangor authorities have completed the construction of a Bailey bridge along Jalan Sungai Lalang, Semenyih, which was severed by a recent landslide.

Infrasel Sdn Bhd said the temporary bridge is now open to light vehicles.

“Praise be to God, the installation of the Bailey bridge has been completed, thanks to the collaboration between Infrasel and the Hulu Langat and Petaling Public Works Departments (JKR).

“The route has been opened for light vehicles from this morning,” the state agency said in a post on X today.

The opening of the Bailey bridge comes ahead of schedule, with state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim saying on Wednesday the work was initially expected to be completed next week.

Izham also said the bridge is a temporary solution, with the state planning to build a permanent one on the road within the next two years.

On Monday, Izham said the state government was taking steps to ensure the safety of motorists after the landslide, such as opening a temporary route through a nearby private site.

The incident resulted in the closure of Jalan Sungai Lalang from both sides.
