SHAH ALAM, May 15 — The Selangor government will build a Bailey bridge along Jalan Sungai Lalang, Semenyih, after a landslide rendered a portion of the road unusable.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Izham Hashim said it is due for completion next week.

He said the bridge is a temporary solution, with the state planning to build a new, permanent bridge on the affected road within the next two years.

“The state government, together with the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR), has taken immediate action by building a temporary bridge, expected to be completed next week.

“God willing, once this is installed, the state government, in collaboration with JKR, the Irrigation and Drainage Department, the Hulu Langat District Office, and the Kajang Municipal Council, will build a new bridge within two years.

“I urge road users in this area to be cautious and stay alert to the current conditions, especially given the unpredictable weather at this time,” he said.

On Monday, Izham said the state government is taking immediate measures to ensure the safety of motorists following the landslide, such as opening a temporary route through a nearby private site.

The incident resulted in the closure of Jalan Sungai Lalang from both sides.
