HULU SELANGOR, May 3 — The Hulu Selangor City Council (MPHS) and Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) have cleaned a 200m drain in Batu 30, Ulu Yam, to prevent flooding.

Zone 15 councilman R. Rajasegaran said this was a short-term move.

“Every time there is heavy rain, in 20 to 30 minutes there will be strong streams of water flowing into several residential areas here.

“This matter has been brought to the DID, MPHS and Land and District Office. Our long-term plan is to build a water catchment area nearby,” he told Selangorkini.

Rajasegaran said the council was waiting for the land acquisition to be approved so it can begin the project.

“We hope residents, especially those in and around Batu 30, can be patient as we work to ensure the water catchment pool is completed soon,” he said.

Yesterday, state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu expressed gratitude to Rajasegaran, the DID and the MPHS via a Facebook post for solving the flooding problem in Batu 30 in such a short time.
