SHAH ALAM, April 5 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) expects domestic waste collection to increase by 13 per cent during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period compared to regular months.

Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said the collection during regular months averages between 6,000 and 7,000 tonnes daily.

"Several hotspot areas are expected to generate high amounts of waste and will receive extra attention during the lead-up to Aidilfitri, including during the celebration period and the following days.

"So far, the Kajang Municipal Council generates the most waste due to its large and densely populated location with residences and buildings, at close to 1,000 tonnes collected daily," he said during a press conference at KDEBWM's headquarters today.

Ramli added that 1,300 waste trucks and 3,500 workers are being deployed to collect waste daily throughout Aidilfitri.

The solid waste collection service schedule is running as usual according to the collection schedule for each zone.

"We hope residents will not obstruct waste trucks entering and exiting the collection areas to facilitate work, as well as to avoid any accidents and unwanted incidents," he said.

Roll-on Roll-off bins have also been provided in areas under the Subang Jaya Municipal Council, the Shah Alam City Council, and the Sepang Municipal Council, following requests for bulk waste disposal, including cabinets and tables, for this Aidilfitri season.
