SHAH ALAM, March 20 — Yayasan Hijrah Selangor is aiming to provide up to RM1 billion in loans to entrepreneurs in conjunction with the ninth anniversary of the agency's establishment this year.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Mearia Hamzah said 88,653 financings were granted to 59,508 borrowers involving RM797 million since 2015.

“For this year, we aim for (to provide) RM1 billion with an existing RM60 million allocation provided to Hijrah Selangor,” she said during the the memorandum of understanding (MoU) sign ceremony at the State Secretariat Building today.

The MoU was between Hijrah Selangor and the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) to provide counselling services to its distressed borrowers.

AKPK was represented by its chief executive officer Azaddin Ngah Tasir, with Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari serving as a witness.

Others in attendance include Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) chief executive officer Saipolyazan Mat Yusop and state executive councillor for entrepreneur empowerment Mohd Najwan Halimi.

Mearia added that Hijrah Selangor also intends to undertake various initiatives via its 'Business Turn Around Plan' (BTP 2024–2028) to further the agency's operations.

It encompasses four aspects, including entrepreneur growth and development, financial excellence, best asset quality and staff performance, and good governance.

“One of the methods is to focus on debt recovery. It is carried out via various means, including through branch offices and private collection agencies,” she said.
