SUBANG JAYA, Jan 19 — Works to stabilise the soil at the landslide site in Taman Wawasan, Puchong is expected to be completed by July, according to Subang Jaya Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.
He said authorities are currently working hard to repair the main monsoon drain that was damaged due to the disaster, following the completion of sheet piling works earlier this month.
"Our initial focus to ensure the structure of the affected houses is not compromised was successful through installation of the sheet piles. Now, we want to reconnect the severed main monsoon drain, which has been causing flooding.
"The contractors are hard at work to ensure the stability of soil and there is no more flooding here. Works will take about six months and is expected to be fully completed in July," he said.
Fauzi said this after the swearing in ceremony of 23 councillors of the Subang Jaya City Council at its headquarters, here, yesterday.
Previously, Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han had said works to install 775 sheet piles to ensure the stability of the slope in the area have already been completed.
On December 16, 29 residents from nine terrace houses were ordered to evacuate for safety reasons following a landslide near their homes.
The landslide, which occurred along Jalan Wawasan 3/9 and Jalan Wawasan 3/14 in Taman Wawasan around 7.30pm, resulted in four buried vehicles, although no casualties were reported.
