Individuals who can't afford healthcare urged to apply for Bantuan Sihat Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Jan 10 — Individuals who are less able to obtain healthcare are invited to apply for Bantuan Sihat Selangor (BSS) which has been open since January 2.

State executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the State Government's initiative covers kidney dialysis treatment assistance, cataract removal, minor surgery, prosthetic legs and medical equipment at government hospitals.

"Last year, a total of 2,608 beneficiaries of the BSS programme were among those who are less able since the cost of treatment for some diseases is quite high.

"This year, we are taking the initiative to continue the BSS and call on individuals with related illnesses to apply for this assistance before the closing date on September 30," said Jamaliah when contacted.

She added that, the applicant must be a citizen of Selangor or resident for more than 10 years have a household income which does not exceed RM3,000.

Ahe also said applicants must include a copy of the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) approval letter or

e-kasih registration information.

"Priority wikk be given to applicants who have not received any help from any party and have many dependents, or where the head of the family has died, a family member is  sick or the disabled," she said.

The State Government continued the BSS initiative with an allocation of RM5 million this year to enable each BSS recipient to receive financial assistance of up to RM5,000 to cover the cost of health treatment.
