SUBANG JAYA, Dec 5 — The state government is in the midst of formulating a youth entrepreneurship programme that would facilitate the application process for startup business grants.
State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi said it is hoped that the effort, which will involve the cooperation of various government agencies and stakeholders, will produce more competitive young entrepreneurs.
"The proposed framework for empowering young entrepreneurs in the state will be prepared through consultation with stakeholders in the near future.
"This (framework) includes efforts to facilitate the youth in obtaining startup grants and financial support to elevate their businesses to a higher level," he said.
Najwan said this at the pre-launch event of the MyPreneur Business Partner (Rakan Niaga MyPreneur) initiative under the Selangor Youth and Sports Department, here, yesterday.
Commenting on the programme, Najwan said it encourages the youth to harness and showcase their potential in entrepreneurship, based on the National Youth Policy, National Entrepreneurship Policy and New Youth Development Model.
"Looking at the very positive feedback, the MyPreneur Business Partner programme must be implemented in a structured manner that is based on the respective business levels.
"This will ensure more productive and competitive young entrepreneurs are produced," he said.
