SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — The heavy floods in 2021 were a lesson for the state government not to take any chances with changing weather patterns, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said they have made early preparations at all levels to reduce the impact on lives and properties, caused by such disasters.
"After the 2021 floods, we did not take it lightly. It might happen again at a high rate as it did before.
"Therefore, we have directed early preparations at all levels and involved all parties. We are in a climate of unpredictable weather," he told SelangorKini.
Amirudin was speaking at an afternoon tea event for Team Selangor Disaster Squad's preparedness course, at Dewan Azalea in Section 25 earlier today. Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S. Preakas was also in attendance.

During the event, the Menteri Besar also handed over Civil Defense Force identification numbers to 50 Team Selangor volunteers who completed the course alongside the agency.
He said these volunteers now have added value and can participate in early-stage search-and-rescue operations with other security personnel.
This initiative is one of the state government's efforts to make early preparations in dealing with unforeseen disaster situations.
"I am very pleased with our preparations. In the past, we used to go to other states to help them, but after 2021, I believe all of Selangor has changed its paradigm so that we need to be prepared at all times," Amirudin said.
