HULU LANGAT, Oct 25 —The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has carried out 170 seizure actions against entities that failed to comply with its illegal waste disposal regulations since January.

Its acting president Mohd Fareez Mohd Ariss@Mohd Hatta said the actions were taken in accordance with the Collection, Discard and Disposal of Garbage By-Law (MPKj) 2007.

"Through the Illegal Waste Disposal Site Implementation Action Plan (Panel Contractor Services) 2023, MPKj has set a condition that factory operators and those involved in construction are obliged to obtain the services of panel contractors registered with the council.

"This is to ensure construction wastes are not disposed of at illegal waste sites and that they are only sent to authorised ones,” he said when chairing the MPKj’s monthly meeting at its headquarters, here, today.

Fareez added that starting next year, MPKj will seize roll-on roll-off (roro) bins belonging to developers or private individuals if construction works do not adhere to the established conditions.

"MPKj remains committed to combating illegal waste disposal activities to ensure this issue is resolved, thereby improving the quality of life for the community in the area.”

On a separate matter, Fareez announced that MPKj will offer parking compound discounts at a flat rate of RM10 throughout November.

He hopes the move will encourage more people to settle their outstanding summons.

Stern actions, including prosecution in court and blacklisting, will be taken against those who still refuse to pay, he said.
