SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — The waste recycling separation programme will be expanded to all local authorities in Selangor starting next year.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Suee Lim said the matter requires systematic planning and implementation in stages, according to each local authority.

He commended the Shah Alam City Council's (MBSA) efforts in implementing recycling programmes, including collaborating with external companies.

"We are looking to expand the practice of waste recycling separation to all local authorities next year, as by doing, so we can reduce approximately 10 per cent of the waste generated.

"We hope the local authorities will also be aware of this matter, and we will endeavour to encourage and educate the public on practising recycling," Ng said.

He was speaking to the press at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between MBSA, Nestlé Malaysia, and KPT Recycles Sdn Bhd, at the MBSA Convention Center in Section 13 earlier today.

The MoU for the Shah Alam Recycling Programme is an initiative by MBSA to strengthen the practice of waste separation among the city's residents.

The next phase of three ongoing recycling projects was also launched during the event. They include Strata Recycling, Door-to-Door Collection, and the We Recycle Program.

Similarly, the 3R Family App was introduced by KPT Recycle to support and digitise these projects.
