KLANG, Aug 21 – Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who was reappointed as the Selangor Menteri Besar this morning, said that the new Selangor state executive council line-up will be announced on Wednesday.
Confirming that all parties under the Unity Government coalition, including Barisan Nasional (BN), are integrated into the council’s structure, Amirudin noted that the line-up would include 11 executive councillors, including himself, and they will convene on Wednesday to discuss their respective portfolios.
“All parties aligned with the Unity Government will be represented in the new state executive council line-up. As for their respective portfolios, I will announce them after chairing the first state executive council meeting for the term this Wednesday,’’ he said in a press conference at Istana Alam Shah here this afternoon.
His comments came after being sworn in for his second term as the state Menteri Besar in a ceremony with the state ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, earlier in the day.
The ten executive councillors, who will form part of Amirudin’s administration, are set to be sworn in later this afternoon.
Amirudin remains steadfast in his commitment, stating that every executive councillor will diligently address and meet the needs of Selangor’s residents.
This pledge comes despite the state opposition – comprising 22 representatives from Perikatan Nasional (PN) – denying a two-thirds majority from his administration.
“We (the Unity Government coalition) still possess a 14-seat advantage against our opponents (PN).
“For me, including the state executive councillors, we will all work hard to meet the complex demands of Selangor citizens,’’ he said.
The Unity Government coalition in Selangor, consisting of Pakatan Harapan and BN, had secured 34 out of 56 state seats in the recent state election held on August 12.
