KLANG, Aug 3 – Selangor has become a popular choice for many digital economy investors as it attracted nearly RM24 billion in digital economy investments in the first half of this year, said Minister of Digital and Communication Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi attributed this success to the confidence of telco companies in the country’s economic development and environment.
“In the first six months of last year, we recorded RM7.4 billion, and this year it tripled during the same period. Many investors are choosing Selangor.
“Why not Kelantan, Terengganu or Kedah? Why Selangor? It’s because investors see the way the menteri besar manages the administration.
“The state not only prioritises the well-being of its citizens but also ensures a stable economic environment to inspire confidence among investors,” said Fahmi during the Jelajah Madani ceramah here last night.
During the ceramah, Fahmi also highlighted that Selangor has successfully captured investors’ attention, including renowned electric vehicle company Tesla Inc.
This development has caused unease among the opposition, said Fahmi.
“That's why Datuk Seri Azmin Ali is upset. He can’t accept the fact that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had a meeting with Elon Musk.
“Tesla has agreed to establish its headquarters in Cyberjaya. Insha’Allah, we will inaugurate it in September, and the Prime Minister has requested Elon Musk to attend,” he said.
In the campaign trail, Azmin claimed he had engaged with Tesla to bring its investment into the country when he was the senior minister under Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Many senior Pakatan Harapan leaders, including Fahmi and Anwar, have rebuked Azmin for his statement, stating that the multinational company has finally invested in the country because of its confidence in Malaysia’s economic administration now.
