SHAH ALAM, July 30 — The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) and Barisan Nasional (BN) pact at the federal level represents a government model that prioritises stability and the welfare of the people.
Selangor Harapan chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the Unity Government formed is capable of leading the country towards a better future.
“Sometimes, uncertainties in politics can lead to a better outcome. So, if it comes together well, it could be the best for Malaysia.
“I am confident that this pact and unity model will make the country better now and in the future,” he said during the Ceramah Arus Merah Kuning in conjunction with the upcoming state elections on August 12, in Subang Bestari, here last night.
Speaking before the crowd, the Menteri Besar said that the outcome of the last general election that led to a hung parliament brought forth the agreement between Harapan and BN.
He emphasised that cooperation with Warisan, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, and several allied parties, led to the formation of a stable government that is seen today.
“With 148 seats and a two-thirds majority in the Malaysian Parliament since 2008, this is the first time we have been able to establish a government based on the spirit of unity,” he added.
Following the nomination of candidates yesterday, 147 candidates will contest in the Selangor state elections, which include 44 Harapan and 12 BN candidates.
Voters in Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, as well as the by-election for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat, will head to the polls on August 12, while early voting on August 8.
