SHAH ALAM, July 29 — The Selangor Unity Team involving Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional (BN) will launch its offer for the next five years, ahead of the state election on Monday (July 31).
Selangor Harapan chairman Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the nomination process for all 56 Harapan and BN candidates under the Selangor State Unity concept proceeded smoothly today.
“The spirit of camaraderie and collaboration which is the basis of the Federal government, is translated into action at the state polls, as this cooperation is based on trust and not betrayal," he said in a statement today.
Amirudin, who is also the Menteri Besar, said that looking at the nomination of candidates situation which went well and was enlivened by the presence of the entire machinery in the state, he is confident the coalition parties in the Unity Government is leading in 68 to 70 per cent of the areas being contested, as well as close fights in several other areas which will see victory.
“This commitment will lift Selangor to an even higher level and it could only be realised with a sincere and united team capable of offering services honestly to raise the dignity of Selangor residents,” said the candidate for Sungai Tua state seat.
A total of 147 candidates are contesting 56 state seats in the Selangor state election.
Of that number, 44 candidates represent Harapan and 12 from BN, Perikatan Nasional (56), the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (14), Parti Sosialis Malaysia (four), Parti Rakyat Malaysia (six), Parti Utama Rakyat (PUR), and 10 Independent candidates.
The Election Commission has set the state polls in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah, and the by-election for the Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary seat to be held simultaneously, with polling day on August 12 and early voting on August 8.
