SHAH ALAM, July 27 — The state government has spent RM719 million to replace ageing pipes all across Selangor, for the comfort of the people.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said over 600 kilometres of pipes were replaced during the Pakatan Harapan administration.
"The total length of pipes replaced during our time was 615km, a significantly longer amount compared to the previous administration, which only replaced 213km," he said in a Facebook post today.
During the Sembang Katup Pintu talk show on Tuesday (July 25), Amirudin said the pipes were gradually replaced in phases since 2016.
The Gombak MP said the replacement of critical pipes was prioritised while admitting the process took time as high costs were involved.
Earlier, he said Selangor has an estimated 30,000km of pipes, with 6,000km deemed critical and requiring immediate replacement.
